LEADING PRACTICES AT PANDU COLLEGE
  1. DIGITAL ECONOMY LITERACY
  2. The college has launched efforts to equip individuals with essential digital skills, enhancing their employability and preparing them for the modern job market. This includes various programs and activities to foster digital literacy among students and community members. The college has also conducted educational campaigns to raise awareness about digital banking services, highlighting the convenience and efficiency of digital payment platforms. In collaboration with local banks, the college offers training sessions on using digital banking apps. These sessions help users perform tasks like checking account balances, transferring money, and paying bills online. A key focus of the training is safety. Participants learn best practices for secure online transactions, such as using strong passwords, recognizing phishing attempts, and ensuring secure networks. Bank staff often join these sessions to provide expert guidance and answer questions.

  3. EDUCATION ACCESS INITIATIVE FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED INDIVIDUALS
  4. Pandu College has taken several initiatives aimed at providing education to underprivileged individuals in society. As part of these efforts, the college has signed an MoU with Harijan Hindi L.P. School in the Pandu locality. The MoU focuses on nurturing students and providing them with additional educational resources. This includes supplying the students with stationery items, supplementary classes, mentoring, and tutoring provided by college faculty and student volunteers. The academic departments, NSS, and NCC wings of the college have organized several educational programs for the betterment of underprivileged individuals. The departments have developed and implemented specialized programs tailored to the educational needs of underprivileged students. These programs include subject-specific tutoring, homework assistance, and exam preparation. The NSS and NCC units of the college have organized multiple educational and community service programs. Additionally, the college has partnered with the NGO 'Snehalaya' to further extend educational opportunities for disadvantaged populations. This collaboration focuses on providing educational support and resources to children and young adults who lack access to quality education.

  5. THE GREEN CAMPUS INITIATIVE
  6. The green campus initiative aims to cultivate a culture of eco-friendly practices, fostering a plastic-free and pollution-free environment that is environmentally sustainable. Efforts have been made to reduce waste generation, conserve energy, protect biodiversity, and achieve self-sustainability in power and water resources. The College has implemented comprehensive waste management initiatives encompassing solid, liquid, and e-waste. Additionally, various environmentally friendly programs have been introduced, such as restricting vehicle access, landscaping, and tree plantation efforts. The campus has also banned the use of plastic bags and declared itself a "ZERO PLASTIC ZONE." In collaboration with the Shristi Waste Management System (SWMS), the college has established a Plastic Collection Centre for stakeholders to recycle plastic waste at the Material Recovery Facility of Adabari, Guwahati. Additionally, a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) centre has been set up to collect and distribute reusable household materials in partnership with SWMS. There is regular qualitative assessment of environmental microbial (fungal) load, specifically focusing on Aeromycoflora in Pandu College and surrounding areas. This initiative aims to monitor and improve environmental health as an integral part of the educational experience.
